Connect an app
How ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP apps sign in, what they can do as your agent, and how to disconnect them.
An app connects to your account with the address access you choose. An address belongs to its owner, and can be used by more than one connected app. Removing an app’s access keeps the address and its mail.
How an app signs in
- You add the MCP server,
https://address.seleya.ai/mcp, in the app. Each app’s step is on Start. - The app sends you to address.seleya.ai. You sign in with an emailed link or a passkey.
- The page shows which app asks, the site its details come from, and where it returns. You choose the addresses it may use, then allow or refuse it.
- Authorization returns to the app. Ask it to check its available tools and address capabilities. We email you that access was granted, with a link to review or disconnect it.
Reconnecting replaces the address selection, including for existing tokens. Unchecked addresses lose access. If you reassign a holder, the previous holder’s grants, address keys and pending decisions end; an independent company administrator keeps their own authority.
Apps identify themselves by a Client ID Metadata Document: the app’s own URL, which we fetch and check. The name an app gives is its own claim; the site its details come from is the fact we checked. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256) and the resource parameter; there is no dynamic registration.
What it can do
Everything below runs at once, as the app:
- read and send mail on the addresses you chose
- get you an address, or give out a company’s addresses
- set up and check your company
- make protections stricter: hold more, block a sender, ask to see more sends first
- see what was held and why (never its text)
What comes to you instead
Paying, saving contacts (which changes trust), loosening a protection, giving anyone authority, removing anything and approving a send you asked to see all wait for you. Protection and access changes answer 202 with status: awaiting_approval, and you get an email with a review link. Payment has its own review at address.seleya.ai. An emailed link opens a page; its button decides. See What only a person may do.
Tools
The MCP server’s tools are this API’s calls, made as the app:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_addresses | The addresses the app may use |
read_messages | Read an address’s mail after a cursor |
send_message | Send, or reply in a thread |
claim_address | Get you an address: your own on seleya.me, or one at your company |
set_up_company | Start authorising a company by its domain |
check_company | Check the company’s proof and progress |
give_address | Give out one of the company’s addresses |
set_protections | Screening, approvals, and allowing or blocking senders |
add_contacts | Save contacts, delivered as known |
list_held | What was held, and why |
release_held | Ask to release held mail |
manage_address | Change the holder, or retire an address |
manage_admins | Add or remove a company’s admins |
billing | Where payment stands, and a link to buy more sending |
The server speaks MCP 2026-07-28 and answers clients that start with initialize, over Streamable HTTP without sessions. Apps that support MCP Events, such as ChatGPT, are woken by message.received and message.held.
Disconnect
Disconnect an app at address.seleya.ai, or from the link in the email that told you it connected. It stops at once; the off switch never depends on the app. To take one address from an app and keep the rest, open the address, then Agents.
